CELA - Centre for Equitable Library Access
The Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) is a national not-for-profit organization that provides accessible reading services to around 3 million Canadians with print disabilities. CELA offers over 1 million titles in various formats, including audio, braille, printbraille, and text, helping individuals fully participate in learning, work, and community life.
CELA’s collection includes award-winning books, best sellers, and Canadian authors, along with nearly 45 newspapers and 150 DAISY magazines. The Educator Access program supports students by giving educators access to the collection for their students with print disabilities.
Established in 2014, CELA was created to help public libraries deliver accessible materials. It is publicly funded and governed by a Board of Directors from public libraries. CELA also provides training and support to libraries, educators, and patrons through its website and Contact Centre.
CELA’s staff includes experienced professionals dedicated to accessible library services.
